MMLA Highly Qualified Staff

The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation has resulted in the expectation that all public school teachers in the core content areas be recognized as “highly qualified.” There are numerous avenues to earn this recognition such as college/graduate credits, advanced degrees, National Board Certification, and relevant classroom and/or professional development experiences. Teachers can also achieve the status of “highly qualified” by taking and passing rigorous content specific assessments. You will be notified if your child has been scheduled into a class being taught by a teacher who has not been deemed as highly qualified.
